Oliver Ma — civil rights lawyer, son of immigrants — is running to build a California that works for people, not corporate interests.
A civil rights lawyer who fights for working families
Oliver Ma grew up in Southern California in an immigrant family. He graduated from UC Berkeley and Harvard Law School, then dedicated his career to fighting for those who need it most.
As a civil rights attorney, Oliver has represented tenants against slumlords, defended immigrant families against ICE raids, developed Asian youth as leaders, and worked on housing justice in Bakersfield and communities across California.
Now he's running for Lt. Governor — because we deserve a California that works for people, not corporate interests. California leads change.
The Lt. Governor has real power to advance progressive change
Cosponsor legislation protecting immigrant families, lowering rent, and investing in California.
Vote on UC, Cal State, and Community College boards to make universities tuition-free and divest from injustice.
Chair the state commission to tackle the housing crisis and ban corporate landlords from buying single-family homes.
Sit on the State Lands Commission and protect California's lands and coastlines from fossil fuel companies.
Building a California that works for everyone
Median California rent exceeds $2,800/month. Oliver will prevent corporate slumlords from buying entire neighborhoods, expand rent control statewide, and protect tenants from unjust evictions.
California has more immigrants than any state. Oliver will hold ICE accountable for illegal raids, shut down for-profit detention centers, and support community rapid response networks.
UC schools hold $32+ billion in assets tied to apartheid. Oliver will divest from oppression and redirect dollars to schools, clinics, and housing support that reflect California values.
Implement single-payer healthcare in California. Guarantee free, high-quality care including mental health and dental. Eliminate insurance middleman profits.
Wildfires cost $11+ billion last year. Every $1 invested in prevention saves $6. Oliver will end new fossil fuel wells, expand clean energy jobs, and invest in wildfire prevention and water security.
California childcare costs $20,000+ annually. Oliver will provide free, high-quality childcare and preschool for all families and ensure childcare workers earn fair wages.
We deserve a California that works for people, not corporate interests. As a civil rights lawyer, I've fought slumlords, ICE, and apartheid — and I'm ready to set a new standard for what leaders should fight for.— Oliver Ma
